Quotes about Religion

One of my favorite things to do in the Internet is reading quotes created by various writers. I'm not attacking any sect or religious denominations here. I just wanna share it and it's up to you on how you analyze if these quotes are true or not.

Religion is an insult to human dignity. With or without it, you'd have good people doing good things and evil people doing bad things, but for good people to do bad things, it takes religion.
Steven Weinberg

“The tendency to turn human judgments into divine commands makes religion one of the most dangerous forces in the world.”
Georgia Harkness

“No man ever believes that the Bible means what it says: He is always convinced that it says what he means”
George Bernard Shaw

“The church is always trying to get other people to reform; it might not be a bad idea to reform itself a little, by way of example”
 Mark Twain

“Those who say religion has nothing to do with politics do not know what religion is.”
 Mahatma Gandhi

“If there is a God, atheism must seem to Him as less of an insult than religion.”
Edmond de Goncourt

“Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by the rulers as useful.”
 Seneca

“Those who are too smart to engage in politics are punished by being governed by those who are dumber.”
